Cool Cat:

Firen Hodges

Why you want to know this person:

This senior theatre major balances work and a full credit load quarter after quarter. Firen is both a seamstress and a secretary for the CWU costume shop. Not only that, but she’s also a carpenter in the CWU set shop and has built most of the sets for the recent theatre shows at Central.

Firen works and manages the kitchen and wine tastings at Gard Vintners, as well as doing their calligraphy. This summer, she will be doing wedding calligraphy, hair and makeup.

She also currently runs her own small business at the age of 21. Combat on the Stage (COTS) works to teach stage combat skills and the “art of storytelling through violence and conflict,” according to their Facebook page.

Firen taught COTS in Colorado and is going to be teaching in Iowa this summer. COTS is based out of Ellensburg and meets on campus on Saturdays at 11 a.m. in Hertz 122. Although the personal website is coming soon, COTS does have a Facebook page.
